We have lived in our beautiful home for 11 years. We fell in love with it on sight. Our home was built as a farmhouse in 1874. In 1920 it was bought by a Sea Captain, Ishmael Williams, who sailed his 3 masted Schooner (the Gaelic) out the nearby Amlwch Port transporting copper from Parys Mountain to the New World. Much of the extension work the Captain carried out is made from the hardwood that came back on the ship as ballast. The house is peacefully situated down a private no through lane and yet close to amenities and just a few minutes walk to the coastal path and the local very friendly pub and a creperie serving superb brunch, lunch and evening meals. Fresh fish can be bought from the local fishermen in the Port. The locality is very community minded and holds regular events throughout the year. The island itself has a wealth of beautiful beaches and the house itself sits within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and dark skies area with the most incredible starlit nights. We have made many friends since living here.

Our favourite features are the vintage Aga in the quarry tiled kitchen. It's a joy to create meals on, makes the best toast, boils the kettle, slow cooks and warms the kitchen and living room as well as the water. The spacious master bedroom upstairs has dual aspect windows, one looking out to sea, and the fitted wardrobes conceal a lovely ensuite with a huge soaker tub, large walk in shower and bespoke design sink unit with a stone sink. The garden has been a labour of love and has numerous zones including a fabulous gazebo for alfresco dining, brick pizza oven, large pond, garden pod/studio and refurbished outbuilding with kitchenette and shower room. The sun is on the garden for most of the day, but a shady nook can always be found.

The sheltered cove at Porth Eilian is perfect for paddle boarding and swimming and our favourite place for a quiet barbecue and bottle of wine at the end of a warm day. A short walk up to the headland brings you to Point Lynas, which is a perfect place to spot dolphins and porpoises either side of high tides. The Adelphi Vaults pub a short walk away is friendly and a free house with a great selection of hand pulled beers and ales and an extensive pie menu.

A sunny Saturday starts with flinging open the French doors in the living room and coffee and croissants on the sunny patio whilst our two cats play on the quiet lane and in the fields surrounding the property. Followed by bringing together some nice ingredients and popping them into the bottom oven of the Aga to simmer away gently all day, providing a delicious dinner to look forward to. We might potter around in the garden, pausing now and then for a cup of tea, and ending the afternoon with a nice glass of wine overlooking the pond before retiring indoors for the evening.

When we bought our home we thought we'd never leave it, but far shores have caught our attention and we want to move abroad for a new adventure.
